Monday Funday #2 – My Day

When I came across this image, I instantly knew it was perfect for a Monday Funday post. Many of us dread the moment the weekend has passed and Monday is knocking on our door. But why do we hate the start of the week so much? Maybe we need to start looking at it from a different perspective. That’s why I love this quote – let’s begin to define Monday as “my day”.

Realistically speaking, I understand that it’s not possible to take a day off from school or work. And that’s perfectly fine. That does not mean you cannot make it your day though! You can do so many little things to make it yours. And hopefully by doing some of  these every Monday, your attitude will change and it truly will become a fun day!

MEDIA MANIA! Listen to your favorite music on your way to work, school, the gym, … Once you get home, have a movie night (popcorn included!) or find that TV show you’ve been meaning to watch. Open up a book and delve into someone else’s story. Flip through a magazine or grab your scissors and make your own vision board. Or bring out some old-fashioned board games; those are always great fun!

FOOD FANATIC? Get up and take your time to enjoy your morning coffee/tea/juice and breakfast food of choice. Indulge in a delicious lunch packed with nutrients to keep you going. Cook up a finger-licking dinner, order some take-out or go to your favorite restaurant. And to finish it off, savor a beautiful dessert as a reward for making Monday fun. For those on a diet, don’t let me lead you astray but maybe you could try a new low-calorie meal or sugarless sweets? Make Monday an adventurous food day!

GIFT GIVER? If you are the type of person who loves the holidays mainly because you can go gift hunting, you could use Monday as your day to give. Search for some local charities that need donations or volunteers or post information about them on your social media channels. Or do a good deed like open the door for someone or help a person carry their grocery bags. You can also give someone you love a small gesture such as a piece of chocolate or a cute little note, simply to show them you care.

BUSY BEE? It’s only Monday but your to-do lists for the rest of the week are already stressing you out. Take a deep breath and then try a different approach! I don’t make extensive to-do lists (only include the important stuff!) but at the end of the day, I write down what I did in a “DONE” category. It gives you a wonderful sense of satisfaction. And then soak away any remaining worries by taking a long, hot bath with some scented candles burning.

FITNESS FREAK? Perhaps you have slacked on your work-outs during the weekend so you feel the mounting pressure of going full throttle on Monday. That’s fine but oftentimes we get burned out too quick while we still have the whole week ahead of us. Why not use Monday as your day to do something new? Search for a new fitness routine, take a class you have never done before, put on that work-out DVD you bought weeks ago, run a different route, … just switch it up to energize you for days to come!

GLAM SLAM! Since you have made it to this blog, I’m assuming you love beauty. Why don’t you organize your own Glam Slam on Mondays? Give yourself a mani and pedi, use that fancy eye shadow or that expensive perfume you were saving for a special occasion (what better occasion than a Monday, right? ;-) ). Take a little extra time to doll up in the morning and then give yourself a spa evening once you get home. Make Monday your most glamorous day.

I hope you found some helpful tips in this post. Just remember that life is what you make of it. And that also counts for Mondays. A positive attitude can go a very long way so lemme see that lovely smile and have yourself a magical Monday!
